A lighthearted look at grandparenting and retirement

Oops Again!

tool boxWhen I turned into a busy road yesterday, I was immediately confronted with a giant traffic jam, so I quickly turned into a driveway.  It looked like the entrance to a small parking lot, an ideal place to turn around. Then disaster struck!

It turned out that the driveway belonged to a newly built home – a busy building site. I tried to back around quickly to avoid attention only to hear a loud thump as I hit an unseen object.  Driving carefully forward, I hit the same or a similar object again.  Deeply embarrassed, I climbed out of my car to come face to face with an angry contractor.  He yelled, “Look what you have done, you have destroyed my tool box!”

And there it lay, new, bright, yellow and crumpled!  I reached guiltily for my wallet – he waved his arms in the air, refusing my feeble offer of compensation, and groaned, “Just GO!”.

So I got back in the car and humbly drove off.  Is it time to turn in the licence yet?
