Just Another Happy Day At The Farm!

It was a nice sunny morning when Bananas woke up. He jumped out of bed, found his slippers and then walked downstairs. He could smell breakfast!
The lovely smell of bacon and eggs cooking in the kitchen made him hurry to the table. Mrs Jones had already poured him a big mug of tea and next to his plate were three fresh bananas. This was his favourite breakfast – bacon, eggs and bananas!
Just as he was finishing his breakfast and drinking the last drops of his tea, Farmer Jones came in from the farmyard. “Hurry up Bananas” he said. “We have to fix the barn roof. Last night the storm blew some of the boards off and the rain will get in if we don’t fix it now.” Bananas ran up stairs and scrambled out of his pyjamas and into his new green overalls. He quickly brushed his big white teeth. Then he washed his face and hands then hurried back down the stairs and out into the farm yard.
Farmer Jones was waiting with the long ladder and they both carried it to the barn. Bananas was so pleased that he was going to help that he held the ladder high over his head and poor Farmer Jones had to hang on for dear life swinging in the air!
Bananas carefully placed the ladder against the barn wall. He gathered all the loose boards and the hammer and nails. Farmer Jones looked at Bananas in amazement as he watched him run up the ladder and on to the roof. “Good thing he is a Gorilla,” he said. “It’s not safe for an old farmer to try that!”
For the next hour, Bananas hammered all the boards back into place. When he was finished, the roof was as good as new. “Come on down now!” shouted Farmer Jones, but Bananas was not listening. He had climbed to the top of the roof and was walking upside down on his hands
.
Just then he jumped onto the hay boom and somersaulted into a haystack almost twenty feet away. As he plopped into the hay he scared all the chickens who ran off in every direction.
Old Rex, the barn yard dog started barking. In the milk shed, Ethel, the cow kicked over the bucket spilling the fresh milk all over Mrs Jones.
Doris, the goat, ran off at full speed and didn’t see Farmer Jones who stood in her way. He was still looking the other way and went flying through the air when Doris butted him. Farmer Jones was not as clever as Bananas when it came to finding a soft place to land, sadly he landed in the pigsty and joined the pigs in their mud bath.
Bananas looked around at the growing disaster and said: “OOPS – SORRY!”
“That is it!” shouted Farmer Jones. “Bananas you are a big, clumsy ox! What are we going to do with you?” “Well…..” said Bananas, “You could have me climb on the farm house and fix the chimney next.” “No thanks”, said Farmer Jones to Bananas.
Bananas felt so sorry and so unhappy for all the trouble he had caused. “I think it will be safer to have you dig up some potatoes,” said Farmer Jones, “Mrs Jones needs them to make dinner tonight”. “Great” said Bananas as he ran off to get a shovel and a basket, “I am so hungry and next to bananas, potatoes are my favourite food”. So Bananas was happy again and, of course, he would never get into trouble again, would he?
Excellent, my son James really enjoyed this; looking forward to Bananas’ next adventure.
